Tour de DCPL II, a Yoga Flash Mob, and a Nike Trunk Show: Fit Fun

Bikram Yoga Fairfax (3950 University Blvd.) is celebrating its grand opening with a posture demonstration, followed by a free class. There will also be door prizes of Lululemon goodies and massage gift certificates. The studio is led by Siri Om Khalsa, who studied with the developer of “hot yoga,” Bikram Choudhury. 3:30 PM; call 703-409-9446 for schedule and pricing information.

Yoga Week draws to a close with a sun salutation flash mob at John Marshall Park. The group practice kicks off the Fiesta Asia Street Fair, part of the National Asian Heritage Festival. The flash mob takes place from 10 to 11 AM; participants should bring their own mat.

In celebration of its 50th birthday, the German School of Washington is sponsoring an 8K Run and fun run along Canal Road. After the race, runners and friends can enjoy a festival of German food, beer, and music. Register ($30 for the 8K and $10 for the fun) at DC Road Runners; day-of registration is an extra $10. The race starts at Reservoir Road and V Street, Northwest, at 8 AM.

Missed out on Bike to Work Day? Exercise your mind and body at Tour de DCPL II, a bike tour of DC’s public libraries. The event starts at the new Tenley-Friendship Library (4450 Wisconsin Ave., NW) at 9:30 AM with stops in Georgetown, Cleveland Park, Mount Pleasant, and Petworth. It’s free—all you have to do is register.

Run an 8K and support three deserving nonprofits: the Wounded Warrior Project, Back on My Feet, and High Cloud Foundation. The race is run along the C&O Towpath starting from the Capital Crescent Trail. Afterwards, head to Chadwicks for a post-race happy hour with $5 appetizers and $2.50 Bud and Miller Lite. The best part? You can sleep in: The race doesn’t start until 6:30 PM. Online registration is closed, but you can register in person ($40) on Friday between 5 and 8 PM at the Chevy Chase Running Company (4461 Willard Ave., Chevy Chase) or on Saturday—race day—between 3 and 5 PM at the Georgetown Running Company (3401 M St., NW).

Take over the roads for Bike DC, Arlington and Washington’s community bike ride. Start at 7:30 AM on the Mall in front of the Capitol, then head to the White House and cross the Potomac to pedal on I-66 and the George Washington Parkway past landmarks such as Arlington Cemetery and the Pentagon, ending back in DC for a total of 19.91 miles. All roads used will be closed to cars. Register ($35) at Bike DC’s site or the morning-of ($45).
